Nav: Bad Habits Tour - Review by ConcertKash

I first started listening to Nav in 2017. Someone had told me to check out this Indian-Canadian rapper. Over the years I have become a huge fan of him. I saw him in 2018 at Lollapalooza, I have been mistaken for Nav in the past too.  When Nav accounced the Bad Habits Tour I was upset that I wouldn't be able to attend any of the shows in a city near me. However, I just happened to be in New York the same time he was.

The show took place at Pier 17. It's a really cool venue because of the views. On the left you will see the Brooklyn Bridge, on the right you will see the beautiful New York skyline. Looking ahead, you will see a pretty nice stage. Sound and lighting were pretty good for an outdoor concert. Nav came out wearing his Louis Vuitton jacket and XO chain. He brought a lot of energy to the stage and ran through an awesome setlist. He performed Price on my Head, Biebs in the Trap, Champion, Tap, Call Me, To my Grave, and many more songs. I wish I could have heard some more songs like his 88 glam collabs , Athlete, Never Know, and 8 to A 4.  However, I was still satisfied with the setlist. Unfortunately, it started raining like crazy during the concert. Fans still stayed out and had a great time. I was drenched head to toe, however, I am glad I was able to see as much of the show as I could. They ultimately had to cut the show short. I still had a very enjoyable experience. Haven't had that much fun at a show in a while. If you are a fan of Nav, I highly recommend seeing him live. I would be very open to seeing him again.

Common with Chicago Symphony Orchestra -review by ConcertKash

Being a fan of hip-hop, Kanye and being from Chicago makes being a fan of Common inevitable. I have been interested in seeing him live for years, however my opportunity never came.  When I saw he would performing with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra I was slightly skeptical. Then I remembered Nas did something similar in New York, and I instantly knew this would be an amazing experience

It was really cool to hear all the instruments blend beautifully with the band and Common's voice.  The sound quality was perfect. I would expect nothing less sitting in a orchestra hall.  Lighting was very basic. This was an orchestra show so there wasn't a need for theatrical lighting.

Common was very appreciative to be home performing in front of the CSO.  He had a lot of energy. He assured the crowd that even though it was a professional environment he would still play his hits. I really wish I could have been in the front row raging to the songs I love. However, I was confined to a seat surrounded by all these people in suits.

Common played most of his hits. Setlist was pretty comprehensive. He played his Kanye collabs like Go, Get Em High, and Tha Food. He did a medley of biographical tracks like Rewind That, Love of my Life, and I Used to Love her. He closed out the show playing The Light and  Glory. There were people around me crying because it was such a moving moment.

I am very grateful to have been able to experience such an awesome event. It was so cool to hear the worlds of Hip-Hop and Symphony come together

Slushii Monster Tour Aragon Ballroom - Review by ConcertKash

I first came across slushii when i saw him on a Lollapalooza lineup a few years ago. He had a Marshmello remix that intrigued me so I went to see him. I remember he started his set by saying my name is Slushii and I like to Slush sh*t up. When I saw he was coming to Chicago, I bought tickets to help me cope with my EDC fomo.

He stared out his show with Marshmello remix of the song There x2. I loved it! He proceeded to run through a pretty extensive setlist. He played a few more Marshmello collabs like twinbow, alone, and silence. He also played some songs by Blink-182, Kendrick Lamar, and Drake. Of course he had to throw Old Town Road in there too. What really made people lose their minds was when he played The Office theme song. Unfortunately he didn't play I still recall. I was looking forward to hearing it. However, can't really complain the show was so good. The lighting was amazing. Sound was great too. I would say it's the best EDM show I've seen this year so far. I recommend seeing him on his tour. I am very open to seeing him again.

Childish Gambino Coachella Weekend 1 - Review by ConcertKash

Childish Gambino aka Donald Glover does not need an introduction. His Coachella Set as I mentioned on IG was one of the best sets I saw that weekend. Going into the show, I had no idea what to expect. I had just witnessed an insane performance from Janelle Monae, and was excited to see Childish Gambino come on stage. I had read on r/Coachella that this performance was supposed to be different than the This is America Tour. However, I found the his Coachella set to be pretty similar to the This is America Tour. This was both good and bad because the This is America Tour was insane, however I was excited to get something different.

He started his set with a video of festival goers saying why (or why not) they were thankful that Childish Gambino was headlining the festival. Then appeared out of nowhere way off stage. He ran through an extensive and amazing set including his hits "Summertime Magic" "Sweatpants" and "The Worst Guys". He also performed "Riot" dedicated to his father, Nipsey Hustle, and Mac Miller. He also spent some time covering Gnarles Barkley's "Crazy" and smoking a huge joint with a fan.  Overall an amazing set. Sound and lighting we're as good as you can get for a music festival. The emotion and energy he brought to the stage was unparalleled to anyone else I saw that weekend. His emotions and facial expressions were so intense. I felt like I ran through so many emotions the set myself from just watching. The girl next to me was literally in tears after the set. She told me it was the greatest set she's ever seen.

The only knock I have on this set is that it wasn't longer, and he didn't perform some of tracks I wanted to hear.  He made it very clear in the beginning of the set that if I wanted to hear my favorite song I should go home and listen to it. I know Childish Gambino claims to have stopped touring. He is scheduled for a few festival appearances. So if you are going to those fests DON'T miss the opportunity to be a part of such an amazing set. You will regret not going.

88glam Twin Turbo Tour- Review my ConcertKash

I first came across these guys while going through the Coachella lineup. I was instantly drawn to the music. Being a Nav fan, and seeing him on a number of 88 glam tracks made me even interested in seeing them. Unfortunately I didn't get to the festival in time to see them. So when the twin turbo tour stopped in Chicago I jumped at the opportunity to see them.

These guys are HYPE! The crowd was going nuts the entire set screaming the lyrics to the songs. It took me by surprise. I guess I underestimated their popularity. If an artist is signed to XO they have to have amazing tracks. The intimate venue just made the entire set better. The setlist included all their popular tracks including Lil Boat, Kyrie,  it's A Flex, Bali and more.

The only bad thing about the concert was the sound. It was terrible.  I could barley understand what they were saying.

Overall, a very lit set. I think 88 glam would be  amazing festival performers. I would be unopposed to seeing them again at the right ticket price.

Femdot Concord Music Hall - Review by ConcertKash

I first saw Femdot when he opened up for Kami. I thought he was one of the best acts that night. When I saw his IG post saying he was opening for Most Def I was so excited.

He started his show with a track titled "Cross Roads*, a song about selling drugs with a twist. Not only is it an amazing song, but it helps set the scene for an amazing set full of energy from both the crowd and artist.  I am very excited for him to release more music. I'm sure I'll see him popping up at shows around the city.
